A male student from Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has been sanctioned for harassing a woman in a viral skit. The video shows the student touching the woman without her consent while seated behind her in a Telecom service provider booth. Despite her warnings and attempts to move away, he continues to follow her.
In a press release on Wednesday, the university announced that the student’s portal has been disabled due to moral misconduct. The Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, stated that this measure is the first step pending the outcome of an investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
Dr. Aliyu emphasized that the skit’s content does not reflect the institution’s values or the ethical standards of most KWASU students. “KWASU is an institution that prides itself on producing graduates of both character and learning, with zero tolerance for indiscipline,” she said. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, authorized the immediate disabling of the student’s portal as an initial punitive action.
